Position Summary: 

Consists of, but not limited to, being responsible for sales of construction aggregates in designated market area.  Work closely with the sales and production teams; scale operators; trucking and railroad companies; and a variety of internal and external customers. Establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers and current and prospective customers.  Analyze markets and develop business strategy as part of sales team. Work with Sales Manager to ensure maximum market penetration at best possible price, making every effort to develop new markets and customers.  Understand the application of our products and assist customers in making the best selection of materials for each situation.  Effectively administer customer quotations and order entry, sales reports, backlogs, collection of accounts receivable, and overall customer experience. Work closely with customers and operations regarding material availability and requirements.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be safety-oriented and able to lead others in good safety habits including compliance with the Company’s Safe Driver Policy
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Construction Management or related field or equivalent construction industry experience required
  • Self-starter with excellent planning, administrative, communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Goal-oriented individual who seeks responsibility and accountability for the sales territory
  • Comply with best practices; and strict compliance with the Company’s Ethics policy and Code of Conduct
  • Provide frequent personal contact with key customer base to maintain relationships, market penetration, profitability and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills; independent and self-disciplined, with ability to work productively both as a sole contributor and in a team environment
  • Strong phone skills (responsive, professional, ability to ask questions to successfully complete order)
  • Ability to communicate positively, professionally, and effectively both verbally and written with employees, customers, and vendors
  • Experience with Customer Relation Management (CRM) software a plus
  • Assist District Sales Manager in preparing timely and accurate reports, data and forecasts; work with operations staff regarding inventory, production, etc.,
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy; ability to multi-task and set priorities
  • Must be a team player and a self-starter with a strong customer service orientation
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office) and ability to learn new applications
  • Ability to travel daily within district territory
  • Some overnight travel is required
