Position Summary


Responsible for driving cement technology performance improvements throughout the Cement Division, including process fundamentals and improvement initiatives, maintenance and maintenance improvement plans, production improvements. Management of work involving major capital improvement project initiatives and engineering projects. Manage multi-million dollar projects from conception to completion. Project support for various cement plant improvements, new installations, process improvement projects, and other construction projects involving mineral resource handling and processing. Support efforts by Cement Division to adopt lean manufacturing initiatives.


  • Work closely with Plant Managers to provide needed resources with the goal of driving operations to world class performance level including benchmarking them against industry standards and key competitors.

  • Work closely with cement management team to develop, gain approval, initiate, and manage medium and large scale (>$ 1 million) capital projects in the Cement Division

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, and computer skills (AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Must have ability to travel on a moderate basis. Must be able to manage multiple projects in multiple areas throughout the corporation simultaneously.

  • Will manage a technical staff, consultants and contractors.

  • Will work closely with other Departments, Corporate Engineering, and Business Unit Districts to allocate resources and time to complete initiatives and specific assignments.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or Mining Engineering required

  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred

  • MBA (Financial) a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bulk material handling experience in mineral resources, preferably cement with at least 15 years of related work experience

  • Project Management experience required.

  • Ability to read and understand detailed design and mine planning drawings (electrical drawings a plus), and provide oversight for plant operations

  • Cement production process experience a must, preferably hands on operational responsibilities including Plant Manager experience.

 Reporting Relationships


Reporting to Vice President, Operation in the Cement Division. Direct reports include project managers, process managers, engineers and administrative support.
